Real estate’s young professionals raise £10K for charity at sell out event

December 2022: The four leading networking groups for young professionals in the real estate sector hosted a sell-out ‘next gen’ networking event at the Postal Museum in London on 13 October, raising just under £10,000 for three charities. The largest event of its kind, 300 attendees from YEP Global, CoreNet Young Leaders, BCO Next Gen, LDN – London Development Network and the wider industry came together to support bigmoose, Casa Congo and The National Autistic Society.

The evening started with drinks, canapés and networking and then each charity shared their mission and goals. There was then more food, drink, a raffle and a live DJ. The three charities were:

  • bigmoose: a mental health charity aiming to raise £1 million by the end of 2022 to enable easier access to mental health services for everyone

  • Casa Congo: a sustainability hub where local communities and international experts come together to create projects that address challenges in climate change, social inequality and economic development

  • The National Autistic Society: a non-profit organisation with a goal to help transform lives, change attitudes and create a society that works for autistic people

Next Gen Charity Event 2022

Sophie Eastwood, director of YEP Global, said: “There are many networking groups in the property sector but few that connect young professionals from across the whole industry. In a first-of-its-kind collaboration, four leading UK membership organisations came together to do just that, and to raise money for charity at the same time. It has been an amazing group effort and thanks to all the committee members who worked tirelessly to put on an exceptional event. The feedback has been tremendous.”

Jeff Smith, Founder of Big Moose, said: “bigmoose were invited to the amazing event held at the coolest space at the postal museum in London, and loved every minute! Everyone involved made us feel at ease, and gave us the opportunity to tell our story to 300 people who had helped raise much-needed funds for us and the other two awesome charities involved on the night. The exposure and the amount raised will help many people receive life changing mental health therapy, and for this everyone at bigmoose thanks you.”

Harriet Wiseman, Associate Director, Project and Building Consultancy at Colliers, who is Vice President of CoreNet’s UK Chapter Young Leader group, added: “It was so great to bring so many next gen members of the industry together in one place, there was a real buzz in the air as people made new connections and chatted with their peers about the opportunities and challenges within the sector. Hearing the incredible work that the charities do was so inspiring and it reinforced how important it is to ensure that our industry makes a positive impact on the society and environment around us.”

The industry got behind this event in force, with gold sponsors ISG, Elementa, Multiplex and Fado; silver sponsors including Perkins+Will, Carter Jonas, RED and IS:SR; LDN – London Development Network was both a host and a silver sponsor, with contributions from its committee members businesses: 3 Sphere, Fabric, Dalbergia Group, Opera, Virtus, Trowers & Hamlins and Ramboll; and generous raffle prizes donated by Hollis, AIS, InteriorLAB, Hunters, Tsunami, Axis, Optima, PBC, FourFront Group and QOB.
